Harrison Bay State Park, the Hamilton County Landfill, Bear Trace Golf Course, a 'Jack Nicklaus designed' course, and Skull Island, a recreational area owned by TVA, are all located in Harrison.Harrison was originally named for President William Henry Harrison and became the seat of Hamilton County in 1840. The seat was, however, transferred to Chattanooga due to its rapid growth. The Hamilty County School System operates five schools in this area Snow Hill Elementary School, Harrison Elementary School, Brown Middle School, Central High School, and Hamilton County High School. The median income for a household in the CDP was $49,393, and the median income for a family was $55,412. Males had a median income of $35,332 versus $27,487 for females.
