Holly Springs is a city in Marshall County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 7,957 at the 2000 census. There were 2,407 households and the average household size was 2.66 and the average family size was 3.22. It is the county seat of Marshall County. A short drive from Memphis, Tennessee, Holly Springs is the site of a number of well-preserved antebellum homes and other structures and has a strong tradition of historic preservation. Holly Springs is the site of Rust College, a historically black liberal arts college established in 1866 by the Freedman's Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal church. The Holly Springs National Forest is also nearby. The City of Holly Springs is served by the Holly Springs School District.
