About Clarksville Maryland
Clarksville is named after William Clark, a farmer. Clarksville is both the name of an unincorporated community and the name associated with District 5 in Howard County in the U.S. state of Maryland. The United States Census Bureau uses the district as a county subdivision for statistical purposes.
According to the Howard County Economic Development Authority, the community of Clarksville had a population of 15,391 as of 2004. [1]
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Clarksville District 5 had a population of 56,239 in the 2000 census.
The village of River Hill is contained within Clarksville, the newest addition to the planned community of Columbia.
Howard County has one of the highest median household incomes of any county in the United States. Clarksville has the highest family income of any township in the county ($159,266). It is unofficially considered the wealthiest town in Maryland, which is the fifth wealthiest state in the U.S.

Columbia is a census-designated place and planned community in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It began with the idea that a city could enhance its residents' quality of life. Creator and developer James W. Rouse saw the new community in terms of human values, not just in terms of economics and engineering. Opened in 1967, Columbia was designed to not only eliminate the inconveniences of then-current subdivision design, but also eliminate racial, religious, and income segregation.
Today, Columbia has a population of about 94,600 (making it the largest unincorporated community in Maryland). Ellicott City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Howard County, Maryland, United States. The population was 56,397 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Howard CountyGR6. Founded in 1772, the town features a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Station Museum (with a station built in 1831), as well as a downtown historic district that is a popular destination among antiques shoppers. Ashton Maryland - Population: 3,437
Ashton is a community in Montgomery County, Maryland. The commercial center of Ashton lies at the junction of Route 108 (Ashton Road) and New Hampshire Avenue.
The United States Census Bureau combines Ashton with the nearby community of Sandy Spring to form the Census-Designated Place of Ashton-Sandy Spring, and all census data are tabulated for this combined entity.
A new village shopping center is planned to begin construction in 2006 or 2007 at the corner of Route 108 and New Hampshire Avenue, where the current Sandy Spring Bank offices are located, consisting of about a 7 to 10 acre plot. It would possibly be anchored with a grocery store, as yet undetermined. Opinions vary on the effects of the plan on Ashton. The developer's plan is available online, as is an opposition site.

Sandy Spring Maryland - Population: 3,437
Sandy Spring, Maryland is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland.
The community was founded by Quakers who arrived in the early 1700s searching for land where they could grow tobacco and corn. They built their meeting house in 1817 near a fresh-water spring which gave its name to the community. A Quaker school, Sandy Spring Friends School, is still located in the area.
